Our attorneys are committed to the integrity of the legal profession and the law, and regularly speak, teach, and write on the current issues and trends affecting international and domestic tax and estate planning. In this manner, SJBT supports legal communities across the U.S. and abroad by disseminating up-to-date technical analysis of the law and the global legal environment. By bolstering other attorneys' knowledge base, we are doing our part to ensure that the legal profession as a whole is better positioned to serve the needs of others.

• Elizabeth Schurig and Amy Jetel are contributing editors of the chapter, "Foreign Trusts," in the PPC's 1041 Deskbook published by Thomson Reuters (updated annually).

• Elizabeth Schurig is a faculty member and speaker at the Chartered Private Wealth Advisor Program, which is sponsored by a partnership of the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and the Investment Management Consultant's Association (IMCA).
  
  
• Elizabeth Schurig is an editor of the four-volume treatise, Asset Protection: Domestic and International Law and Tactics (Thomson/West Group, updated quarterly). Elizabeth Schurig, Amy Jetel, and Carolyn Beckett are also contributing authors to the four-volume treatise and regularly submit chapter updates. "This multivolume set provides comprehensive coverage of domestic and international asset protection strategies, shows how to handle the asset protection law of all 50 states and the District of Columbia, including exemptions from creditors, joint and marital property planning, gifts, trusts, disclaimers, protection of retirement plans, and limited liability entities, compares the financial, professional, political, and legal characteristics of over 20 major financial offshore jurisdictions, and analyzes and handles the tax issues and reporting requirements involved in offshore arrangements."

• Elizabeth Schurig is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and a Fellow of the Texas Academy of Probate and Trust Lawyers; and a Founding Fellow of the Travis County Bar Association.
  
  
• Carolyn Beckett, in addition to being Board Certified in Tax Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and licensed to practice law in Texas and New York, is also licensed as a Certified Public Accountant by the State of Texas. This, along with her 35+ years of experience, gives her a depth of expertise that goes beyond just being a tax attorney.
  
  
• Carolyn Beckett is a member of the Texas Society of CPAs and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), past chair of the Austin Accountants Breakfast Forum as well as the past chair of the Austin Tax Study Group.
  
  
• Carolyn Beckett is the co-author of Federal Tax Aspects of Cancellation of Indebtedness and Foreclosure, Shepard's/McGraw-Hill (1993).
  
  
• Steve Tackett is a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC). "ACTEC is a nonprofit association of lawyers established in 1949. Its members are elected to the College by demonstrating the highest level of integrity, commitment to the profession, competence, and experience as trust and estate counselors."
